Took the kids to see Harry Potter 7 in IMAX yesterday. We watched the Chamber of Secrets on TV when we got home. Today we are watching the Harry Potter marathon on ABC Family channel - all the movies in the extended version. Good times.
I purchased a new cord for the laptop that actually recharges the battery so I can now surf the interwebs while I watch these movies that I have seen at least 10 times each already. We do that a lot around here - watch movies over and over and over. We also like movies that are series like the HP ones, the Mummy, Indian Jones and LOTR. Just fascinating information I know. I guess we all have ADD in this house. We dont have the patience to get into something new and we like to do other things while watching movies or TV like reading, playing with whatever electronics of choice, building legos, coloring and things like that. If you have seen a movie 10 times or more - no need to pay that close attention to it.
I am nursing my leg while I am sitting here - I guess I am doing 3 things at a time. A couple of months ago I fell and hurt my left knee. I never followed up with the prescribed PT and the pain eventually went away until yesterday. While getting dressed, I wanted something from the dresser and I turned to reach it but only turned at my waist and something in my knee went CRACK. Then drove for an hour to the mall in Nyack, I walked over the Palisades mall with the kids, sat in the movie theather for about 3 hours and then drove home. By the time we got here, I really couldnt even stand on my leg anymore.
Today I am icing it and trying to just stay put. My kids want to put the tree up and I will happily let them do all the work - including getting the boxes upstairs. It reminds me of when I was on bedrest when I was pregnant with Margaret. I sat on the couch while my boys took care of the decorating and then the tree fell on Stephen. I giggle thinking about it now. He was under the tree trying to center it better and it fell over on him, I was like 9 months pregnant lying on the couch when it happened and I couldnt get up to help him, not because I was supposed to be on bed test but because I was so huge, I literrally couldnt lift myself up. The boys had to come and help him and then fix all the ornaments that fell off.
I wanted to journal my December activities for my December daily album but I am having a hard time remembering everything that happened over the last 5 days. On the 1st, Margaret had her first Daisy troop meeting. I almost didnt take her because we had such bad rain that day - wind blowing, branch breaking, not even an umbrella keeps you dry rain. I couldnt dissapoint my girl so we went. She stayed at school and I met her up there and met her troop. Kindergarten kids are so adorable anyway but these girls were super duper adorable. At snack time we talked about Margaret's list and asked what boys they thought were cute while eating chocolate covered graham crackers and sipped juice pouches. The girls made name tags and played a couple of games. Simple but good fun.
Thursday we had Kids Care club at Consolidated. Stephen wanted to volunteer for community service hours so he planned on coming. Daniel decided to come and help too and I am so happy that they both came. In Kids Care we have the kids do something good for the communtiy. Last time we made cards for other children that were in a childrens hospital and made a huge collection box for toy donations. This time we made gift tags and wrapping paper for scraves and blankets that were donated to give to the homeless. Stephen and Daniel were so helpful with the kids and I could tell that they were very pleased with themselves and the work they were doing. Margaret had her cute classmate, Andrew following her around like a puppy. When we got into the car to come home, Stephen was chatting about the kids and how cute they were and I mentioned that we would make a good teacher. He had a lightbulb moment and is now thinking that career path.
Friday -- mmm, what did we do??? Ah, really nothing. Except the epic cake. Stephen wanted to see if he could make a 4 layer cake. He made the batter all by himself and baked the cakes. We only have two cake pans and somehow the stove got turned off when the second batch of cakes were cooking and it just took forever to get these things bake. The fourth layer of the cake got stuck in the pan and got ruined so eventually we had a 3 layer cake. Dad frosted the cake while the kids were sleeping and they had a piece for breakfast the next day. There is one more piece in the frig right now and I so want to eat it! We are going to try again on Christmas Eve but I am going to have to get two more pans. The boys are both working on healthy lifestyles and I dont want to keep bringing temptation into the house so maybe if we make the cake thing for special occasions it wont ruined their progress that they have made so far.
So the 4th we did the mall and movie and today it is the couch, the interweb and Harry Potter. Oh, and the Christmas tree later. I hope to add in some pizza from Brunos and the day will be perfect.
Oh and we watched Scott Pilgrim VS the World for the 3 and 4th times. Only a babillion more views to go!
